bandh comment!

Posted in Kerala, Kozhikkode by clash on September 30, 2005

Today was just another bandh day in kerala.Lots of people were geared with bottles of liquor to enjoy this day…. it has turned out to be another “happy day” for people.Opinions were galore, is it good? is it bad?? essentially all of them enjoys a good bandh! thats a fact for sure!

I was browsing through rediff, amazingly i found a blog written by some Ramanand. The whole point is that it was listed in the home page.My curiosity dint forbid me to skip it, so i opened it.. sadly it was just another rhetoric on bandh! poor dude..lost his dad coz of a bandh (it can be fictious twist he gave to boost his presence in the blogdom!looney n phoney.. people are!).I pity him, he is from bengal, like kerala there are lots of chances to loose your dad or mom for the spirit of “strict adherence to the bandh ideology”.May be he is all up in arms against bandh coz he lost his dad , no doc’s were present to treat him! Personally for me, that is not a very valid reason to dish out a rhetoric on bandh! So it prompted me to comment on the blog.100 words were not enough to tear his claustrophobic attidude.Fortunately or unfortunately rediff offers a service of commenting with the limit of words. With my dial up connection and the unpredictablity it offers, i always have the habit of copying and saving whatever i type down.. i tried posting it 3 or 4 times.. words exceeded the limits! its obvious… i cant mince my words for reasons like this!

The comment goes like this : Feels so sad to realize that you are just another mezmerized(the new “system of a down” album,an apt name for an apt time!) gung-ho professional…push yourself to a broader perspective, loosing one’s dad for a bandh is an obvious catastrophe, may be that made you all up in arms against the bandh for all. But if thats not the reason, please note..its not one dad,one mother or one child that dies and suicides across india coz of distressing poverty and repression! yeah.. the same old rhetoric… but that still holds a point.. when glossy posters of “india shining” adorn the bill boards of metros and when the metrosexual munchs a “MAC burger” there on the other side in orissa some people live on mango kernels!

To bridge a gap between this what else do we have?? you want them to eat the mango kernels?? you want the honda workers to be marauded? you want the dalits to be supressed?you want me to calculate the nifty points when my dear sister is starving to death? who will answer all these questions, it is not all about the party that conducts
the strike but its the “strike” that matters!

people unite and strike ! open your goddam eyes!! open it!

You and me
We’ll all go down in history
With a sad Statue of Liberty
And a generation that didn’t agree –
System Of A Down (mezmerize)

Generation is a very realtive term!coz it includes ramanand also…

Clash, all the same we cannot all force ourselves to be great samaritans always. sometimes very often one’s family comes first… I dont blame the other guy. It’s not any tough to imagine his view. But then of course you are right. You got to lose something to win something else….
Good to read a different ‘spirited’ opinion.
