a post i made on an orkut community about KVL :

anyway i SMS'ed to the number they have displayed in the advert that is being aired on Malayalam Television channels.

And to my surprise, KVL gave me call asking me what i am looking for.

I queried them about live telecast and stuff like that. He told majors like Espn are interesting, which sounded a lil bit over the top but i am sure there are many local channels who are ready to air this event.

Even though rumors are abound that some franchises will be from US, the representative from sports management company that is responsible for KVL asked me to pass on information to people who could be prospective franchise owners. That means, the franchises have not been yet sold off and he told a complete list would be out by then end of December, where the franchises are decided and telecaster is confirmed.

anyway i really liked the way with which they are trying bring the game to the interested mass. i never expected them to call back but this has seriously increased my "feel good factor" for the upcoming KVL. Viva Kerala should take some cue from all these, as good PR is quintessential for any product to sell.

i had a few suggestions to them too, i told them that it is very important to use social networking to promote the whole thing. He assured that they will be soon on Facebook soon

i am really hoping that this venture kicks off. there is money to be made by packaging sports in a better way.

@ Pigou : Yes, i believe that sports other than cricket has a a market at least regionally.

I am keeping my fingers crossed about this venture. the players are also equally thrilled about this. I hope it can revive another sport that is fast approaching oblivion!

thanks for dropping in.. will continue updating about the happenings.

Also some more media advts, media coverage in the appropriate circles in Middle East, Europe and US will definitely help...For sponsorships look to Life Insurance companies, global banks and telecom. It is time such alternate short action packed sports are packaged in India. A GREAT INITIATIVE....WISH the KVL all the success!!!!

Series/Tournaments: Sri Lanka tour of India
Teams: Sri Lanka

Sanath Jayasuriya's cricketing future has been put in the balance with Sri Lanka's selectors saying today that his days as an opener are effectively over and that following the upcoming tour of India he will be picked on performance alone. Jayasuriya, 40, has been picked in the one-day squad as an allrounder who can bat down the order and bowl left-arm spin.

"What we expect from Sanath is that he should win one in three games for Sri Lanka, which he was doing in the past," Ashantha de Mel, Sri Lanka's chairman of selectors, said in Colombo. "But now that has reduced and we are a little concerned about it. In the Champions Trophy in South Africa his performance was below par .That's the reason why we have gone in with the option of playing him as an allrounder."

Thank you nikhil for dropping in.

every story has an under lying thread and i find them most interesting than story itself. some problem i suppose :D

If Che had succeeded in some areas, apart from the soviet redundant socialism there could have been altogether dynamic socialistic thought that would have thrived in Latin America. The scope for that was crushed by the assassination of Che.Even though Castro still holds on a creaky/rickety revolution in cuba, it is the source of inspiration and hope for the new age socialists that are cropping up in Latin America and it is very distinct from the one that happened to deteriorate in erst while soviet union and eastern Europe. China is harldy socialistic anymore.

Coming to America's abhorrence of Communism, it is just down to money making and profits. They are totally consumed by a different ideology and they religiously preach it either through coercion or through force. Latin America has been a backyard for them for a long long time for their neo-liberal circus and a sort of reversal is happening and is evident through the type of democratically leaders that are being elected these days.

While i am typing this yet another radical left, former guerrilla leader is going to get elected in Uruguay.

Latin America is a beacon hope for people who are relishing a dream of alternate world order.

Nice One! :) Poetic Justice? (that's a hawkish usage tho). But had Che not been killed then I guess the world politics would have been quite different with a Latin America that would have been 'Liberated', in the true essence of the word, many decades ago.

One thing I ask myself again and again, "why America abhores Communism to the hilt, that they are willing to liquidate any sympathizers?" Isn't that similar to ethnic cleansing like what Hitler did and what Israel and America are doing?

Brilliant perspective...i must embarrassingly admit that I missed this episode, but I am 100% on your bandwagon.

To put Abhinav Bindra up against these seasoned debaters is an obivous mistake as he wouldnt hurt a mouse even if it begged him to. the sad part though is that sportspersons serious about sport and its implementation in the country wont care much for a debate, with unreasonable politicians that is nearly meaningless, on TV.

Am hooked on...keep up the good work.

I agree with you in one breath - however taking an objective perspective - exposure via the Olympics will help the younger ones - inspite of the selfish drive of the current powers that be.
